Critters / Game Cam

In NOV 2008, grew tired of spending close to $20 a month on D cell batteries on the two new game cams that I picked up a year ago. I even bought the
solar panel for it at Cabela's (major discount) but the issue was the 6 rechargeable D batteries that I needed to get. Looked on the web
and they are not cheap ! The first game cam that I made the solar charger for works great so I figured I would do it again.

The only issue is that these units run on 9 volts vs. the 12 volts that the other cam works on.

Had to install a 7809 Power Supply Regulator. Placed this in the weather tight battery compartment of the camera.

NOTE: Cam1 has a time / date problem. It advances quickly and makes each day more than a year.
Cam2 has a flash problem. Sometimes it will fire off but not always.

I have reset both cameras but the problems remain. Will replace both one of these days.

All done. $30 for the panel from Harbor Freight Tools. and $21 for a battery from Wal-Mart. And a hour of time.

The older game cam. This unit is a bitch to program the time and date so I generally say screw it ! I keep it as it takes ok photos.

NOV 2007

Nice size buck. As usual they are out and about around midnight !

Over the past few weeks we have been seeing this male common Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), around the property. We figure because of
the CREP fields he has found a new place to live. Or, the PA Game Commission dropped him off.

Since he allows us to get so close I figure he won't last long.

UPDATE: Mid December he had a girlfriend... But, as of 30-DEC we have not see them around.

JUL 2007

This part of our property has a hawk nest every year.

JUN 2007

I was sitting waiting for a ground hog to pop up so I could shoot it and I was watching a doe walking thru the brush. She kept on
watching somthing low. Well, I ran after her and as I figured she had a fawn. I was right as she did. I easily caught it, ran it up to the house
to take a few photos and then let it go in the same spot. The mother was waiting in the area so they were back together within a minute or
so. The alarm call that the fawn made was very loud.

This was the doe that had the above fawn.

FEB 2007

Misc Critters JULY 2005

I had been putting out cheep cat food by my garage to see what I would attrct. After a few weeks I had the regulars.
including some of my chickens that found out that you could get some free eats.

The entire family is enjoying the free dinner.

One night I was late in putting out the food. Its the give me look...

Was amazed when I saw these two so close. I did not think that they would get along.
